A randomized trial of the dural puncture epidural technique combined with programmed intermittent epidural boluses for labor analgesia

چکیده
Background: Continuous epidural infusion (CEI) can provide analgesia during labor. The dural puncture (DPE) technique is used to accelerate the onset of neuraxia anesthesia. primary objective this study was compare percentage patients that received adequate labor following an injection 0.08% ropivacaine via DPE and CEI techniques combined with PIEB mode maintenance.

Dural puncture epidural analgesia is not superior to continuous labor epidural analgesia.
BACKGROUND Some anesthesiologists consider combined spinal epidural (CSE) analgesia as superior alternative to continuous labor epidural (CLE) analgesia. However, during CSE, even small doses of intrathecally administered local anesthetics with opioids induce almost instant analgesia that precludes the testing of epidural catheters as well as early appreciation of failed epidural catheters. To ...

Methods: Sixty healthy ASA class I or II, term (≥37weeks’ gestation), nulliparous women were recruited in our study. Epidural analgesia was initiated with a solution of 0.15% ropivacaine 10 mL and maintained with 0.12% ropivacaine combined with fentanyl 2ug/mL by continuous epidural infusion at a rate of 5mL/h and combined with a patient-controlled epidural analgesia bolus of 5 mL and intermitt...

BACKGROUND Despite the growing popularity of combined spinal-epidural analgesia in laboring women, the exact role of intrathecal opioids and the needle-through-needle technique remains to be determined. The authors hypothesized that anesthetic technique would have little effect on obstetric outcome or anesthetic complications. METHODS Data were prospectively collected from 2,183 laboring wome...

BACKGROUND This study aims to investigate differences between continuous epidural infusion (CEI) and programmed intermittent epidural bolus (IEB) analgesia for the Chinese parturients undergoing spontaneous delivery and to approach their safety to parturients and neonates. METHODS Two hundred healthy American Society of Anesthesiologists class I or II, term (≥37 weeks' gestation), nulliparous...
